  • New York Renews Invasive Species Law

    The State Legislature renewed a law that was scheduled to expire June 1 requiring boaters to take measures to prevent the spread of invasive species from one lake or river to another but refused a five-year extension without improvements. The Adirondack Council had advocated for strengthened law that would require decontamination prior to launch in any Adirondack waterbody.

  • Lake Pleasant Water Quality in 2016

    In 2016 we completed our third annual water quality testing of Lake Pleasant through the DEC Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP). The data show that Lake Pleasant is a healthy lake, with low levels of nutrients that produce harmful algae, good water clarity, neutral acidity, and no other red flags we should be concerned with.

  • Algal Bloom Spotted on Lake Pleasant

    On Sunday, August 28th, 2016, a substantial number of green algal blooms were discovered on the north side of Lake Pleasant by LPSA lake shore monitors. Please read the attached file for more information about harmful algal blooms.
